spine meets fiber as I dip under the noise let the chaos float, hot and light up away I am buried in stolen silence my own pulse in my ears slowing softening soothing a micro hibernation brief incubation in mercy and again, into the day I rise
I, too, have noticed if I sit outside in the silence and seek God, he can fill me up in a way that defies logic. I live off those minutes for hours. I also love the idea of posting our material whether or not it was chosen for a submission. I was just revisiting my Silence poems last night too.
Yes, especially at the moment, those times outside in silence with so much plant growth and birdsong and light and God. It really does fill me up.
I would love to read your Silence poems!! Even if you don’t share them on Substack (I am sure your Subscribers would enjoy reading them!) you could send them to me if you are comfortable with that? I enjoy your writing a lot and I am sure I will be richer for reading them.
I published “Midwest Sleeping Beauty” after reading your poem, though on rereading it I realized there was as much attention to sound as silence. 🤣 I was picturing that moment of lifting my face to the spring sun as being one of personal silence, but with it comes an awareness of all the spring sounds. I kind of understand why it wasn't published in an issue dedicated to silence. 😘 The other two I am workshopping and trying to decide if I should submit them to a contest or publish on my stack.
